New Hyperspace Era V3 and the Completion of NHE Part 1 Section 1

Welcome to the new NHE! I've spent the last few weeks working on what you're looking at right now. I've talked to some people who love it, and some who hate it with a passion. While I hope you're not in the latter group, feel free to send me an e-mail using the redesigned Contact Page and tell me what you want to see. If the staff likes it, I'll put it on.

It's hard to believe that in less than two years of existence, we have gone through 3 major versions. The first one was...well, let's not go there. I'll try to get a pic up soon. The latest version was okay, but some pages still hung on to the old format, giving it a non-standard feel. And the member system...completely useless and broken. This version has removed that, and made the only theme the descendant of my favorite scheme from the old one, the Old Republic Scheme in all it's icy glory. The sidebar border, which should be an easy thing to accomplish (and in retrospect, it was) took me more than a week. I had the image, and I had no clue how I could snap it to the sides and make it work for all screen resolutions. My first plan was to code up a complex PHP script, manipulating the navbar background, dividing the screen resolution by a fifth and adding the sidebar based on that to the background. It was then that I realized How stupid can you get? You just need to use nested tables Not long after that, I thought How stupid can you get? Why don't you actually put it as a normal image that floats. So there. A week wasted. The rest of it wasn't that hard, except for updating all the pages

I've gotten rid of the Library and merged it and RotNR into a new page with links to each one. Also, the long forgotten Holonet has been removed, since the stuff in there was unmaintained. I'll try to work on the Chiss name generator (which was "coming soon" a year ago) when I have time. Band has taken over my life, so I don't have as much time.

Now, the best news of all: The First portion of NHE is finished! (You can w00t if you want) This is the first section of the first book in the NHE. Think of it as a sixty page prologue. In the future chapters, there will be much more dialog, action, deception, and intrigue. We have a brand new Jedi Council ready to be introduced in the first chapter of section 2. Count on lots of twists and turns in the future. 

Next item: We need publicity! This site has very low traffic, and we need to get the word out! If you're a webmaster of a Star Wars fan site, or just like this site in general, please add a link! There's a few banners you can use in the "Links" section. Please contact me first, so I can officially affiliate you. If you don't have a real website, put it on your MySpace! Tell your friends! Graffedi it on school walls! (Well, don't go that far...NHE claims no liability for school property being damaged in the name of a superior site ;-)) 

Another thing. A long forgotten staff member has finally gotten his place on the Cast and Staff Page. He was the one who got all the to-be-staff together, and it was his house in which the NHE was born. I can't say to welcome him, because he was a "Founding Nerd". So, I'll just say I'm sorry for procrastinating for so long, Jusee Gurich, the all-around nerd. I mean, this kids plays D&D, reads Star Wars, has half the Lord of the Rings series memorized, and joins me in the pursuit of superior knowledge of Monty Python.

<BEGIN POSTSCRIPT>In the following weeks, I'm going to rewrite and edit the NHE so far. There's a few chapters in there that are...dumb. Also, the person who plays Samcol Tipba, superior fighter pilot, in the NHE pointed out some contradictions, spelling, and grammar mistakes. So, be expecting NHE1.1.2 soon. (I really need a better name for it...Like..."The Primary Partition of the Installation of the superior New Hyperspace Era series that is the foremost one in the series, entitled "Rise of the New Republic". No? Hmph. I thought it was good...

Argh! I keep on forgetting to put stuff in...I am considering changing the name of Installation 1 to "Rise of a New Republic", because the current version gives the impression that the New Republic still exists, when in fact, it refers to a quote later on in the story, a speech made by my character, Corme Proan, given to the citizens of the Galactic Alliance in the face of...Okay. The spoilers stop there,
